Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Homeschooly

Homeschool tracking is the process of recording and monitoring your child's learning activities, progress, and time spent on different subjects. Homeschooly makes tracking simple by letting you log activities with photos, notes, and categories in seconds - all stored privately on your device.

Creating a homeschool log with Homeschooly is easy. Simply add activities as they happen, attach photos, tag subjects, and add notes. Your log builds automatically over time, creating a beautiful record of your child's education journey that you can reference anytime.

A homeschool report typically includes activities completed, subjects covered, time spent learning, and progress summaries. Homeschooly generates professional PDF reports automatically from your logged activities - perfect for local authority inspections, sharing with family, or your own records.

Requirements vary by location. In the UK, while not strictly required, maintaining records helps demonstrate educational progress to local authorities during informal enquiries. Homeschooly makes it easy to keep organized records that satisfy inspection requirements while respecting your family's privacy.

Activities are stored locally on your device - they are NOT sent to any servers anywhere. We care a lot about privacy - this is your homeschooling data, and we want to keep it that way.

If you have automatic backups turned on via iCloud or Google Drive, then the app and it's data will be backed up to your personal storage. This is only really useful if you restore your settings on a new device. If you delete the app, then all the data is lost with it. The only way to backup data reliably is to manually export your data from the 'Account' tab. Click 'Export' and save the resulting file somewhere safe. Then on a new install of the app, return to the Account page, select 'Import' and select the file you saved. This will reload the app with your data saved. Yes, it's manual, but we think the trade off with keeping your data private is worth it (unless you tell us it's not!!)

When you add a photo, a copy of it is taken and stored alongside the app, on device - that is to say, your photos stay on device, just like the activities. If you take a manual export of data, then your photos will also be exported.

Either click on 'Switch Learners' on the 'Activities', 'Habits' or 'Insights' tabs and scroll to the bottom to add a learner, or, click on 'Account' and then 'Add Learner'

Click on the 'Account' tab, then 'Edit Learners'. Select a learner, then click 'Delete Learner'. But be warned, this will delete ALL activities for that learner!

When you're editing an activity, add a category as usual, then click on the 'Add Category' button in the bottom left. Choose a one word name for the activity and choose an icon. Once created, you'll be taken back to the Category Selection screen, where your new category will be available for selection.

Drop us a mail at support@homeschooly.app requesting for your account deletion and your request will be actioned asap. Since we store no emails, the deletion we carry out will be based on RevenueCat, the system we use for processing purchases and subscriptions.

When you install Homeschooly on a new device, you will see paywalls on the premium content again. Simply click 'restore purchases' on the paywall, or you can also do this from the accounts tab. Don't forget, when moving to a new device, take an export of your data on the old device first

When you first try to add a photo to an activity, a screen would have popped up to ask you to grant permisisons for Homeschooly to access photos. If you didn't accept the permissions, you can do this:

On Apple Devices: Go to System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Photos -> Homeschooly and provide either Limited or Full Access
